A Special Yid With a Special Heart: Rabbi Yisrael Landsman zt”l

On July 9, 2012, a request was made to Rav Chaim Kanievsky that he give a bracha to the Landsman family. The family’s request was that the husband/father of this family Rav Yisrael wake up from his coma so they could speak to him one last time. Rav Chaim’s “prophetic” answer was to respond sadly: “tell the family that they should accept the decree.” While they did not receive the bracha they had hoped for, the very next day Mrs. Landsman discovered a video of her husband that was filmed five years earlier at their family Purim Seuda. She and several of her children did not know of this video’s existence. While Rav Yisrael never did awaken from his coma (he was nifter just a few days later), he still managed to “send” his family a valuable goodbye message and an eternal life lesson. Please view this video and forward to your friends and in spreading his inspiring “motto for life”, it should be an illuy neshama for Yisrael Refoel ben Moshe HaCohen. Read more about this special man and his love of life, Emunah in Hashem, His Torah and His people.

Just One Thing is Missing
Rav Moshe Weinberger, Aish Kodesh, Woodmere, NY.

Rav Moshe Weinberger offers a very provocative and insightful critique of our Torah observance in this generation in which he describes: “Our institutions are bursting at the seams. We have a formidable array of daily and weekly publications filled with our own current events and advertisements for the latest, non-gebrokts, Pesach getaways. Many neighborhoods take pride in their “minyan factories” where a Maariv can be caught until the wee hours of the night. We have morning kollels and evening kollels and gemachs for everything under the sun. Just one thing is missing: the Soul".
